Description:
The works comprised the extension to the existing utilities from Glasgow Royal Infirmary to the newly constructed Plastics Departments.
The works consisted of the removal of existing ceilings, doors and finishes etc. and the formation of openings in a number of existing structures. This facilitated the installation of new utility supplies which were run from existing buildings across landscaped areas to plant rooms where connections were made to existing pipework. distribution boards, data and telecommunication systems etc. were reinstated or renewed as required.
The works were carried out over a 16 week period with much of the work completed outwith normal hours to minimize disruption to users and patients. The works required close coordination with public utilities to ensure the installation met all their requirements and the latest regulations.
Extensive planning and co-ordination with the Estates Departments was also required to ensure the services, particularly life critical services were not disrupted during the execution of the works.
