This Category A Listed Building dates back to 1757, and is located within the Cochno Farm and Research Centre which plays a key role in the delivery of core teaching and research activities for the School of Biodiversity, One Health & Veterinary Medicine of the College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences.
Redpath was appointed as Principal Contractor for the conservation and stabilisation of Cochno Farmhouse and Stables through the University of Glasgow Construction Works Framework. This project has been critical in halting the decline of both listed buildings and to enable our client to make decisions regarding Cochno’s future development and use.
Stables – Removal of all vegetation and saplings from the external areas and wall heads, form hard standing to cleared courtyard, removal of unsafe areas of roof and set aside existing slate for re-use, carry out structural stabilisation works, frame and board window openings.
Mansionhouse – Wrap existing chimney stacks, install chimney pots, dry areas internally where water ingress has been identified, treat areas of dry rot fruiting bodies that remain internally, frame and board windows and works to repair existing rainwater system.
Through our Early Contractor Involvement, we managed the ecological surveys for bats and wildlife. No work could commence on site until these critical surveys were complete, recommendations put in place and licences granted by NatureScot.
